IMAGINATION LIBRARY 5TH BIRTHDAY!

244 pre-school children in this area received their very first Dolly Parton Imagination Library book in October 2005 because LETC.jpgUnited Way of Southwest Minnesota began local sponsorship of this literacy building program.  Since then 5,214 children have received 127,402 quality books in the mail each month.  This is an investment in our future of $318,505* that local United Way of Southwest Minnesota donors have underwritten over these past five years.

It is time to celebrate!  Watch for announcements about several birthday party events throughout this area this fall.  Also, mark your calendar for a  Great Cake Event on Saturday, October 16 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Marshall Area YMCA and watch for more news.

* The average cost per book is $2.50.  The Wilder Research Foundation has found that the cost of children entering Minnesota kindergartens unprepared is approximately $113 million annually.
