Born Learning Trail Coming To Dawson; Volunteers Sought

United Way of Southwest Minnesota, the City of Dawson and Sather Construction & Building Supply are excited to bring a United Way Born Learning Trail to Dawson to help parents and caregivers support early education and active learning for young children. The Born Learning Trail is a fun, easy way for parents, grandparents and caregivers to use our outside environment to help teach children skills that are necessary for success in school. The series of 10 signs are designed to help adults interact with children to boost language and literacy development and also support early learning in everyday moments.

The Born Learning Trail will tentatively be installed on Thursday, September 20 at Veterans Park along the new sidewalk.  Volunteers are needed for two phases of the project.   Phase 1 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. will include the installation of the signs and posts along the sidewalk.  Phase 2 from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. will include painting the activities that correspond with the signs onto the sidewalk.    Date and time is tentative and can be flexible in regards to a date/time that works better for a group(s).
