- Thank You

Thank you to the people and businesses in this area for your ongoing support of the annual United Way of Southwest Minnesota campaign.  This is especially appreciated during this time of concern and frugality.  Now more than ever your local charitable response makes a real difference in local people's lives and advances the common good in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine and western Redwood Counties of Minnesota as noted by the following examples:

  • This month volunteers have begun to help qualifying individuals and families with their taxes.  Over the past 3 years, approximately $1.5 million has been returned to the local economy through this effort.
  • Families of more than 2,400 local children ages 0-5 are building school readiness skills each time their monthly, free Imagination Library book is read aloud.
  • Parents have the opportunity to refine their skills through parent education workshops, such as the "Kids are Worth It" message that will be presented free of charge at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 23 at the Marshall High School theatre by noted parenting educator and author, Barbara Coloroso.
  • A prescription drug discount card distributed by United Way that can be used at many local pharmacies, has helped local individuals lacking prescription drug insurance save $28,144 (October 2008 - January 2010 statistics) on their medical costs.

All of this, plus much more, happens on an ongoing basis in this area because you give your time and donations.

More information is available on our webpage, www.unitedwayswmn.org.  In addition, anyone interested in learning more about local services/programs can sign up for a free progress report that is sent monthly via email.

Thank you for your generosity,
