The Season of Giving

To the Editor:

Tis’ the season – it’s a phrase we hear often these days. We are in a season of holiday celebrations, a season of hustle and bustle, a season of balancing want vs. need, and of course, a season of giving. And while December is a time, we tend to think more about the spirit of giving and receiving, it’s a need that our communities and neighbors have year-round.

United Way of Southwest Minnesota continues to support the needs of our local communities with programs that focus on health, education, financial stability, hunger, and well-being. These programs are made possible by your donations! The 2022-23 UWSWMN annual campaign is in full force and will end on January 31st, 2023. Please consider joining the many generous donors who have already contributed. Your donation, no matter the size, helps provide free books for kids through the Imagination Library program, school supplies to area schools through the Stuff the Bus program, and so much more. Any amount, great or small, stays local and has an impact on the lives of your friends and neighbors. Our service areas include individuals who live in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.

If you have already donated this year, or in the past, we thank you! If you are considering a donation this year, donations can be mailed to UWSWMN PO Box 41, Marshall, MN 56258, or submitted online at the website listed above. United Way is also accepting Venmo this year @UnitedWaySWMN. To learn more about your local United Way and the work they do, visit www.unitedwayswmn.org.
