The United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) is excited to have been selected as a recipient of a $5,000 ADM Cares grant from Archer Daniels Midland Company. ADM Cares grants target three focused areas that align in ADM’s mission of feeding the world: sustainability, hunger relief and education with a focus on agricultural education and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines.
The Cares grant will help support the Student Emergency Fund Grants available to schools in our service area to be used to support the neediest students. Participating schools have reported using the funds for items such as activity/band/filed trip fees, clothing, socks, and shoes, lunch assistance, hygiene items, emergency food support, eyeglasses and vision exams, winter apparel and specialized school supplies.
UWSWMN fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community. UWSWMN unites people and resources to improve lives in the area with a focus on education, income (financial stability), health, safety & well-being, and hunger—the building blocks for a good quality of life. In July, $11,291 will be paid out as Student Emergency Funds to the following schools: Canby, Clarkfield, Dawson/Boyd, Fulda, Hendricks, Holy Redeemer, Ivanhoe, Lake Benton, Lakeview, Lynd, Marshall, Milroy, Minneota, Murray County Central, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton, St. Mary’s, St. Peter’s, Tracy Area, True Light Christian, Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Yellow Medicine East.
