Junior Achievement of Lyon County receives Community Impact Grant
Junior Achievement (JA) of Lyon County has received a $7,764 community impact grant from the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN). JA of Lyon County focuses on providing young people with the knowledge and skills to develop their economic success. These funds will help purchase the resources required to ensure the consistent presence of JA of Lyon County schools in inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in the global economy. This work aligns with UWSWMN's priority area for financial stability.
UWSWMN makes a difference in the lives of local people by investing in programs focused on the health, education, financial stability, hunger, and safety & well-being of people living in our service area. Our service area includes the communities we serve in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Minnesota's Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.
The primary method through which UWSWMN invests donations into our communities is by awarding Community Impact Grants. Local volunteers play a crucial role in this process by reviewing funding requests and working together to make funding recommendations to our board of directors. During the funding cycle of 2024-25, programs dedicated to enhancing the lives of local people were awarded a total of $181,000.
