Kindness-Every Day of the Year

Have you ever thought about kindness and what it means to you?  Is it holding the door open for someone, complimenting someone’s outfit or hair style or bringing donuts for your co-workers?  I did a basic google search of kindness out of curiosity of what would come up.  One of the question prompts said, is kindness a choice? The answer was as follows:  how we treat others should be a choice that reflects our character not a reaction to other people’s character.

Another question prompt during my search was, is kindness learned?  The response: Kindness is considered to be both innate and learned behavior.  Although there’s no doubt that many of us are born with a natural sense of compassion, observing and receiving kindness first hand are the most effective ways to guarantee its continuation.

Join us November 15th-19th and be part of the continuation of kindness in our communities throughout southwest Minnesota.  United Ways across the state of Minnesota will be celebrating United Acts of Kindness Week.

Document your acts of kindness and send them to us so we can share and inspire others to do the same.  Photos and details can be emailed to: unitedway@unitedwayswmn.org.

Kindness is not something we do for a week.  Kindness is something we do Every Day of the Year.  Just like the work of your local United Way, impacting the lives of Every Person in Every Community, Every Day of the Year.
