Lutheran Social Service Meals and Meals on Wheels receives Community Impact Grant.
Lutheran Social Service Meals and Meals on Wheels program has been awarded a community impact grant from the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) for $16,500. These funds will help cover the cost of meals for low-income seniors who cannot afford to contribute financially. This work aligns with UWSWMN’s health priority area.
UWSWMN makes a difference in the lives of local people by investing in programs focused on the health, education, financial stability, hunger, and safety & well-being of people living in our service area. Our service area includes the communities we serve in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Minnesota’s Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.
Community impact grants are the primary way UWSWMN reinvest donations into our communities. The community impact grant process involves local volunteers who help review funding requests and collaborate to make funding recommendations to our board of directors. For the 2023-24 funding cycle, a total of $212,000 was awarded through this process to programs working to improve the lives of local people.
