Parenting Time of New Horizons Crisis Center receives Community Impact Grant
The Parenting Time program, run by New Horizons Crisis Center, has recently been honored with a $11,647 community impact grant from the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN). This funding will play a crucial role in providing much-needed support for supervised visits and safe exchanges between estranged parents and their children, ensuring the parent-child bond's safety and continuity. This initiative strongly resonates with UWSWMN's priority area of promoting safety and the overall safety and well-being of families within the southwest Minnesota community.
UWSWMN is committed to making a difference in the lives of local people. We do this by investing in programs that focus on a wide range of areas, including health, education, financial stability, hunger, and safety & well-being. Our service area includes the communities we serve in Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine, and portions of Minnesota's Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles, and Redwood counties.
The primary method through which UWSWMN invests donations into our communities is by awarding Community Impact Grants. Local volunteers play a crucial role in this process by reviewing funding requests and working together to make funding recommendations to our board of directors. During the funding cycle of 2024-25, programs dedicated to enhancing the lives of local people were awarded a total of $181,000.
