United Way of Southwest Minnesota is excited to announce that Al Castor will chair this year’s annual campaign for the area. Castor is a Sales and Lease Specialist at Lockwood Motors. The United Way campaign officially kicks off in September. Pacesetter campaigns at various workplaces have started to kick off around our service area. The theme of the campaign is Every Person, Every Community, Every Day of the Year.
I have been a United Way ambassador with Lockwood Motors since 2015 and a United Way board member since 2019. This is a great organization to be involved in and I have enjoyed my responsibilities as an ambassador / board member every day. I look forward to working with the communities and southwest Minnesota during the 2021 campaign to make this a great campaign season, shared Castor.
This position provides leadership for the campaign itself and the resource development committee, a diverse group of volunteer leaders and board directors that shape and implement strategies to meet local yearly fundraising goals.
Castor is the latest in a long line of local leaders who have chaired the position. Rachel Nuese and Michelle Doeling co-chaired the campaign in 2020-2021. Michelle Doeling chaired the campaign in 2019-20, Melanie Pedersen, U.S. Bank chaired the 2018-19, Amy Herrick, North Star Mutual Insurance Company chaired the 2017-18 campaign; Lee Steffen, ADM and Julie Pederson Sanford Canby Medical Center co-chaired the campaign in 2016-17; Abby Wikelius, Lyon County Attorney’s Office chaired the campaign in 2015-16. Castor resides in Marshall with his wife Michelle and children: Alison, Alex and Amber.
